Hello! Friday, September 20th, 2019. A brand new Playlist Friday coming at you. I hope your week has gone well. It's been a super wet week here in Houston. Imelda has left her presence in and around the greater Houston area. Luckily, my direct area didn't flood. About 15 mins north did. It's always a little nerve racking when a tropical storm or hurricane is heading in your direction. Glad to be okay.
Playlist Friday returns after a one week hiatus. This week's batch of songs bump hard. They took my mind off real life while I listened to them all this week. Check them out if you wish.
It's good to see Danny Brown back. He teamed up with Q-Tip for production on some of his new album (out next month). The couple singles out (one below) are some of his best work (imo) since his album XXX which came out in 2011. XXX... man. Probably one of my favorite rap albums. I remember listening to it on road trips with my best friend to Austin in 2012. Much simpler times back then.
I didn't think Danny's stuff was bad in between 2011 and 2019, but it missed the "grittiness" that XXX had. I feel like his new single "Best Life" (below) is really the first single of his where I'm like "okay...okay... this is XXX album level quality". Anyways. Hope you have a good rest of your day.
Thanks for checking out the blog.
