Playlist Friday

Playlist Friday

Howday! It's Friday, January 28, 2022. Hope your week has gone well.

This is consecutive weeks where the post has been in the afternoon. I would prefer to have it done in the mornings, but the one guarantee about PF posts going forward will be... they'll be posted at some point before the day is done. If you're asking why I just don't type these out beforehand and have it auto posted Friday mornings... that's a very decent question. I guess I just like typing things on the fly.

This week's playlist...

A band is on here that I used to listen to religiously. I can't remember what I had yesterday for breakfast, but I remember listening to this band while working at my first office job back in 2012. I remember the last hour or so of my day I would just listen to music because most of my duties were done. I'm talking about Young Prisms. I listened to their Friends For Now album countless times. I went back and revisited some of that album this week... it's still a great record.

I bring up Young Prisms because they're releasing their first album in nearly a decade in March called Drifter. "Honeydew" is their recent single. I like it. I don't know if I love it. Maybe it's because I hold their Friends For Now record in such high regard. I don't know. 10 years away is a long time though. I'm not sure if any of the members were making any music during that time w/other projects, etc. The song reminds me a little bit of Beach House. I'm interested to hear the rest of the album come March now.

I'm a new fan to every other artist/band on this week's playlist. Had fun digging through Spotify like I normally do. Skirts - "Always" is fourth. Song reminds me a little of Alex G. Did a little google search to see the band was formed by a Alex Montenegro. She was born in Dallas, TX. I was skimming through her discog on Spotify briefly and the progression from 2018 to 2021 is noticeable.

Collapse, Shelf Life & Monolord fill out the rest of the playlist. Collapse & Monolord kick ass.

The Monolord track reminds me early Ozzy. I put the song last because I feel like it's a nice song to listen to heading into the weekend. Crack open a twisted tea. At least that's what I'm going to do right after I'm done posting this. A little rock heading into the weekend.

I appreciate you reading. Until next time.
