Playlist Friday

Playlist Friday

Howdaaay! It's Friday, January 7th, 2022. The first Friday of 2022. Hope your year has started off well.

It's been a long week for me. No particular reason why. Kind of been in a wonky mental faze. I've poured myself a glass of mocha iced coffee this early morning though. I feel content in this very moment.

I'm ready 2 rock n roll.

The first PF song of 2022 belongs to Singaporean rock band Blush. There used to be a Hong Kong based Asian Dance pop girl group who also called themselves Blush, but they disbanded in 2017. There's also a solo project created by Maura Lynch (formerly of Darlings) who goes by Blush too.

Those Blushes have no correlation w this Blush. Almost sounds like I'm talking about makeup rn.

This Blush released a self titled EP this past November. Three tracks and "Best Friend" is one of them. If you have 10 or so spare mins... it's a nice little ep. I look forward to hearing more of their stuff.

Second song belongs to Grrrl Gang. They originated in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. They're made up of Angee Sentana, Akbar Rumandung, and Edo Alventa. They have some catchy tracks. "Honey, Baby" is one of them. Some songs are growers. This one is not (imo). I was like "this is going on PF".

Jirapah, Mint Julep & Stomp Talk Modstone round out the playlist.

Jirapah was originally formed in NYC in the mid-2000's, but band's originators Ken Jenie and Mar Galo moved back to their hometown of Jakarta, Indonesia a few years later.

Stomp Talk Modstone are from Tokyo, Japan. Mint Julep is the only (current) American band as they hail from Portland, Oregon. So a little international flavor to kick off the year's slate of Playlist Fridays.

have a listen if you so wish~ hope you have a good weekend
