Playlist Friday

Hello. It's Friday, November 12th, 2021. Hope your week has gone well.

Random thoughts/tidbits:

1) Beach House released the first 4 songs of their 18 track album Once Twice Melody on Wednesday. It's Chapter 1 of 4 with the remaining 3 chapters being released over the course of the next few months. It's an interesting concept. I don't necessarily hate the idea. Keeps fans intrigued. By the time the 4th chapter is out their tour will be kicking off. So it's pretty good marketing by Victoria and co. Off the first few listens of the songs in chapter 1... I think I like "Pink Funeral" the best.

I still have to let the songs sink in a little bit more though. There's very few Beach House songs that I actively dislike. Their long term consistency is impressive.

2) I had PCD on Wednesday. Post Concert Depression. I went back and listened/watched some Alex G songs on Weds night. I never watched the full "Gretel" music video until a couple nights ago. Set in rural PA. It's a beautiful music video. It reminds me of a lot of areas in Texas. Places in the middle of nowhere that can be easily overlooked by many. People that can easily be overlooked by many. There's local demolition derby clips in the vid w Alex looking on in one of them. The cars crashing being seemingly symbolic to how tough and onerous American society can be on a lot of hard working, simple citizens. Yet these same people are still just trying to enjoy their lives at the same time.

3) This week's playlist is a bit all over the place. Listen if you so wish. Hope your weekend is a good one.
